Dean Oliver is a prominent statistician known for pioneering modern approaches to basketball analytics, including his creation of offensive rating, defensive rating, and the four factors, which are considered crucial for evaluating team performance. He currently works for ESPN in their analytics division and has previously worked for the Washington Wizards as an assistant coach, as well as for the Denver Nuggets and Seattle SuperSonics. His first book, "Basketball on Paper," is a fantastic read that shaped my understanding of the game. His new book, "Basketball Beyond Paper," is releasing November 1, and I highly encourage everyone to purchase a copy.
